As we represent the SWANA region, particularly in healthcare and wellness of humanity, we must address the official one year of genocide in Gaza. According to The Lancet, there are up to 186,000 estimated deaths in Gaza. The trauma endured by the people of Gaza is unlike any other currently experienced. Israel's actions have resulted in the complete destruction of Gaza's healthcare system, leaving no fully functioning hospitals. This has led to an exodus of healthcare workers, and hospitals have become shelters for displaced families, with overcrowded conditions forcing multiple families to share small spaces.

Currently, there is a significant outbreak of hepatitis, a resurgence of polio, rising respiratory illnesses, and many children suffering from severe burns. With no laboratories available, healthcare providers cannot tailor antibiotic treatments or accurately diagnose conditions. Sterilization equipment is nonexistent, resulting in untreated wounds that remain open to infection. Gaza's whole healthcare system must be completely reconstructed. Much of the healthcare workforce has been killed, and the training of future healthcare professionals has been severely disrupted.

It is crucial for us to understand the root causes of the genocide in Gaza and take action to help those affected.
